It’s week 14 of the garden and we are finally eating and enjoying it. I picked our broccoli today and cooked Broccoli and cheese (a family fave). We’ve also been enjoying our lettuce this week in plenty of salads. The weather has been very mild with highs around 75 and plenty of sunlight so the garden is happily soaking up the rays.
With this mild weather I noticed we had some visitors in the garden, honey bees.
I am not sure if our cabbage is ever going to grow or if our freeze and snow stunted it’s growth, only time will tell.
But for sure our cauliflower has not been hurt at all it growing great and about the size of a orange.
In fact 2 weeks ago DT put rubber bands around the outside of the leaves (this protects the head because sunlight can cause browning) Well I had to move the rubber bands because they had grown so much, so yippee, I can’t wait for some cauliflower!
Even the brussel sprouts have grown quite a bit, hopefully in a few more weeks I will be roasting some, yum!
The radishes have grown and are such a beautiful color
The turnips won’t be much longer, I am just dying to try and make so many turnip dishes.
and our 2nd crop of swiss chard is coming along nicely.
the carrots are growing and about 2 inches long, can’t wait for these, there is just nothing like fresh garden carrots.
and our lettuce has been great eating! So fresh and crunchy!
and lookie Ms. Tail feather has finally gotten her feathers back
Remember what she looked like when we first got her?
now she is pretty and fluffy again.
Tail feather happens to be the leader of the pack, she is also the best egg layer she lays nearly every day, jumbo sized eggs. But don’t mess with her when she’s laying, she’ll peck the crap out of your hand!
DT says I am slightly obsessed with my chickens, but heck they are just so much fun.
I will be posting weekly of the garden so please click on each week for more details. week 1, week 2, week 4 , week 7, week 8, and week 12

Oh….it looks GREAT!! I can’t wait to get back at it.
Great photos and beautiful garden as usual!! Love your chicken too. hehe.
I just love your garden updates. They give me hope!
There is NOTHING wrong with being obsessed with chickens. 🙂
My garden is a bit stunted. We had a windstorm that blew my cold frame part off. Everything is sort of halted at about 1″-1.5″.
I may move some flats indoors and put a hot lightbulb over them to warm them up. SIGH!
I know I’m weird, but the colors on that cabbage are BEAUTIFUL.
Your garden is looking tastier and tastier!
The garden looks amazing! I sometimes wish we would start one, I still don’t know how you do it all….lol!
What a gorgeous garden! I wish I had the patience to grow a garden! I can only grow weeds. 😛
I’m a little late visiting all the PSF posts. Please check out mine.

Your garden looks great! It must be wonderful to have a winter garden. We still have months to go before we can start again. Thanks for sharing yours with us. 🙂
What an amazing garden!!
Your garden looks beautiful!! I just went grocery shopping today and bought a ton of veggies. Let me just tell you that you are saving a bundle by growing all this yourself…the broccoli and cauliflower look so yummy!!!!
I had to laugh about your comment about the chicken pecking you while she’s laying eggs. My brother raises chickens and he has a scar on his arm from where a chicken attacked him once when he tried to take her eggs.
