Wednesday was the big day for Little W got his cast off.  I was nervous all day thinking only the worst, like his bone hasn’t healed and he will have to leave a cast on for another 4 weeks.  But fortunately the Dr. said his bone had healed beautifully and in fact would be stronger now for the next few months and then go back to normal.

The tech who removed his cast was so fast, we were behind 3 other people 2 who were getting casts and one just a brace.  He put those casts on so fast I was really impressed, he was so good.

And when it came to removing DT held Little W and we thought he might be scared of the loud saw, but he wasn’t at all.  Just 4 little swipes of the saw, and he popped it off, I couldn’t believe how easy it was. The tech Orlando asked if we wanted to keep it and I said of course! And little W was a trooper the whole time, just checking everything out no fussing, not scared or anything, just his happy calm self.

He loved feeling and scratching his leg, and he kept saying gone gone, it was so cute.

As we drove home I kept wondering if he would walk on it right away or be a little timid and nervous about it.  But as you can see the second we set him on the ground he was off.

He is limping a little and his casted leg is slightly smaller but as his muscle builds back up he will be back to normal.

Wednesday also happened to be my Mom’s birthday, and we went out to eat at a Seafood restaurant, and the boys loved looking at all the stuffed fish on the walls, and murals.

So after we ate we naturally had cake and ice cream (this is a cake from HEB and its so good)

So as tradition goes in our family, the birthday girl goes first and then all the kiddos get to take turns blowing out the candles.

Little W had fun puffing out his cheeks but never did get the hang of it, but don’t worry the older boys were happy to help out.

After a long but really good day, I am so happy that Little W has healed and transitioned so well I couldn’t be prouder of the little guy.

  4. This is kind of random, but my post today was about getting a cast off too….only he had to put another one back on for a couple more weeks….booooo!! Looks like your little guy is doing great though! What a cutie!

  5. Congrats to the little man…I bet it feels weird to walk on normal ground! Glad you made it thru the ordeal basically unscathed! He’s a fighter!

  6. What cuteness!!! I can just imagine how bad that little foot smelled.
Your mom looks very pretty is that color. Wish I could have been there and had some of that cake.

  7. The picture story is perfect for showing his expression through the whole thing – took the whole thing like a man! We have been through a broken collar bone. Twice! So I understand the feeling of freedom he had once the cast was gone.

  8. Glad he is up and running again. You do have some precious boys. Can’t wait for their new cousins to be around them.
