Let’s Meet Tom and Bekki, a super fun couple who live life to the fullest. That is with boating, shooting, running, when do you sleep??? Bekki blogs about it all at Wherever you go, go with all your heart. Which is excellent advice and a super cute blog. She writes some delicious food posts, and about blessings in their lives. Bekki even supports Faces of Beauty which is a wonderful concept, you can read about it here. Now on to the interview!
I had to include both pictures they are just too cute!
Wedding date: January 1, 2009 Dominican Republic
Blog (s): http://heartofcinder.blogspot.com/
How did you meet? I was introduced in 2004 via blind date- after 6+ months of nagging from my co-worker (who was Tom’s Aunt).
When did you know he was the one? During some of our early conversations we talked about family and how we were raised etc… Our backgrounds were very similar- I thought there was possibility, the kicker was that on our 4th or 5th “Real” dates- I got very sick and ended up throwing up everywhere in his apartment (IE both bathrooms, and some on the couch- not pretty) he took this all in stride and did his best to comfort me- and still called to check on me later.
What is one of your favorite things to do together? One of our “things” is boating. Both sides of the family know that on a nice weekend forget trying to plan anything with us we will be out on the boat. We live in NE Ohio so these days are few and far between- It is a nice place to shut off the phones and rest (together!)
What is something new you learned about your husband after you were married? He is much more mellow than I could ever be or imagined him being.. I am wound for sound 90% of the time and is chill… I quit smoking about 6 weeks after we got married and he dealt with that so I don’t think I need to say more…I was PSYCHO!!
What do you do to stay connected during everyday stresses of life? We always have dinner together-(no phone) It is our time to catch up on each other’s day- we try to have one “wine night” per week or at least every other week- watch some Netflix, drink wine and just relax (again with no phone -I emphasize this because we run 3 businesses out of our home and I work full time for someone else so we need the quiet)
What is your best piece of marriage advice? My husband is teaching me to “Choose your Battles” the little things aren’t worth the huge fights (well maybe dog hair LOL) but seriously at the end of the day it isn’t worth the grief,
CLEAR communication- so many things are assumed unless communicated clearly
HONESTY- Don’t forget all things come out in the wash later.
What is your favorite quirk about your husband? He is a very humble person- at first this annoyed me- he is very successful in who/what he does and half the time he comes across as someone who is very shy, I am learning to admire this and the fact that he knows when to speak up and when to just observe…(I need to learn this)
He is very much a perfectionist… I am too so what a combination that is!!LOL
What is something special you do just for your husband? I try to make a special meal or dessert for him (He loves the mystery cookies I won’t tell the ingredients unless he guesses correctly) I make cards or notes and stick in his lunch when he least expects it-I hope to encourage him.
Tell us something about yourself. We are both in our 30’s, and work like crazy people and play just as hard. We both have our motorcycle license. We go shooting at least once a week. I am learning every day to be a better wife and better dog mom. I can’t believe that this much time has passed since we met/married; seems like yesterday. I love to travel and live life with a crazy passion for all that I do- All or nothing my blessing and curse all in one. I love all things not ordinary!!
I am still in search of couples so please If you are interested in being a Meet the Newlyweds featured couple, leave a comment and/or send me a message and I will get in touch with you.
