Meet the Newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Newlywed, yes they keep there names private for her blog and I think that’s a super nifty idea, since we do the same thing here, or at least try to. I think my name has slipped out, ha! But what a fun couple though you won’t see a picture of them any time soon. Mrs. has a really great blog called Misadventures of a Newlywed in which she recently posts about her journey through a tumor on and near her ovaries and bed rest after the removal surgery. The tumor has been causing her to go in anovualtion cycles (which basically means she doesn’t ovulate) and she found all this out from using Natural Family Planning(NFP) (We use NFP also) But don’t get me wrong this blog is so much more also from menu planning, to product reviews and giveaways. She has a large readership and its so clear why. Please check her out and on to the interview.
Wedding date: July 5, 2008

How did you meet? We have the most unromantic story ever. We had class together, and it just kind of all fell in place. We had some mutual friends, hung out in some of the same place, etc. He was reluctant to date me, because I was loud and enjoyed my social life. He was quiet and spent a lot of time either at football practice or in the art room. I fooled him into thinking it was an awesome idea to date.
When did you know he was the one? Hmm…I think pretty early on, but I was reluctant to admit it. I was coming out of a really bad relationship, and I was being a little protective of my heart. I just kept telling friends it was a casual thing just to have some fun, but deep in my heart I knew I had fallen head over heels. I wasn’t ready to admit someone had made me vulnerable again. It was an interesting situation. It was the first time I really felt like I would be a wreck if he wasn’t in my life.
What is one of your favorite things to do together? We love to go on dates! We go out to dinner, the movies, the opera, fundraisers, long walks, and so many other things. It is very important for us to have quality time together, and we work hard to never put each other last on our to do lists.
What is something new you learned about your spouse after you were married? I learned that he was pretty much awesome at cooking. When we were in college he lived off of peanut butter sandwiches and hamburgers. I had no idea he could cook. The first week we were home after the honeymoon he made this killer casserole. He never should have done it, because now I know that if I don’t feel like cooking I’ll still get a good meal.
What do you do to stay connected during everyday stresses of life? We have something we refer to as “talk time.” We always eat one meal a day together whether it is breakfast, lunch, or dinner or all three. During that time the tv is off, books are put aside, phones are elsewhere, and we just talk. Sometimes it is about stupid stuff like new shoes and other times it is about finances. It helps keep us balanced.
What is your best piece of marriage advice? Laugh hard and often. We’re both pretty funny people, and laughter is an important part of our marriage. We’re both very light-hearted, and we try to keep Misadventure Manor [our apartment] as stress-free as possible. Laughter makes that very easy.
What is your favorite quirk about your husband? HA. He eats honey on his hamburgers. I kid you not. If that isn’t a quirk I don’t know what is.
What is something special you do just for your husband? Bake peanut butter cookies. They are his favorite, and back when we first started dating I would make them at his house [I lived in a sorority house so I had to bake at his house] and give them to him and his housemates. Ever since then I have never made them for anyone else.
Tell us something about yourself. I LOVE ice cream, and we eat sundaes one or two times a week. We keep all of the necessities in our kitchen closet so we can have a sundae party at any minute!
