Meet the Newlyweds Justin and Amy

Let’s learn more about the newlywed couple Justin and Amy.  Amy blogs at Just Add Walter (a pun at their last name).  She has a fun witty writing style and just from her blog I can just tell we would be great friends in real life.  She’s currently in Nursing school and shares some of her studying woes, and even nursing fashion tips.  She also blogs about the sweet fun date nights and birthdays shared with Justin.   Be sure to stop by her blog.  Now on the the interview!

How did you meet? We met our junior year of college at Wake Forest University.  We were pledging a coed service fraternity together.  We started talking at a party one night, literally stayed up all night talking and the rest was history.  We were inseparable after that!

When did you know he was the one? About a month after we started dating we went on a weekend beach retreat with our coed fraternity.  He told me he loved me for the first time by writing it in the sand while we were walking along the ocean at night… I just melted because I felt the same way.

What is one of your favorite things to do together? We love traveling together and seeing new things.  Sometimes we go on vacation in the city we live in — stay in a hotel, go to a nice dinner, maybe a show…. it’s just fun to “get away” from the everyday life!

What is something new you learned about your husband after you were married? He is a neat freak.  I always assumed his place was neat in college because his mom came to clean it or something… but no, he is just a super clean person.  I am not at all… and it gets me into trouble with him often!

What do you do to stay connected during everyday stresses of life? We have “date nights” and we have a “communication night” usually on different nights of the week.  Date night is pretty self explanatory.  Communication night is when we turn off all the TVs, sit down and just talk about anything and everything.  It sometimes is a serious conversation and sometimes is just silly… just depends on what’s going on!

What is your best piece of marriage advice? It is actually something I have heard all my life but it is so true — Don’t go to bed mad.  Not only will you not get a good night’s sleep but it really can do damage to a relationship if you do this often.

What is your favorite quirk about your husband? I catch him talking to himself sometimes and it just makes me laugh at the things he says.

What is something special you do just for your husband? I make him try new things.  He is pretty straight laced and sometimes he puts up a fight but he ALWAYS ends up enjoying himself.

Tell us something about yourself.

I am in nursing school and I can’t wait to be finished (too bad I just started)!! My hubs and I have the sweetest fur baby in the world (her name is Gracie).   I love my friends and family.  I love life and I try to live every day like it is my last.  You will never find a box of oreos in my house because I eat almost the whole box in one sitting every time I buy one… I can’t even go down the cookie aisle at the grocery store.  I am a terrible cook but I try really hard to learn.  I love to read and I love to blog.  Sitting outside in the sun with a good glass of wine is my favorite thing in the world.  If you wanna know more, come by and visit my blog… I am a pretty open book!
