Lets Meet Joe and Hillary. Hillary has a cute blog called The First Year Wife. As you might guess she chronicles their lives as Newlyweds, and a mighty cute couple to boot. Hillary also participates in the Food Network Chef Challenges with me, and has tried some really great recipes. They even have introduced a new member of the family, cute little Clyde Gary. Now on to the interview!
Name yours and your husband’s (that you won’t mind me posting on the blog):Joe and Hillary
Wedding date: June 13th 2009
Blog (s): The First Year Wife
How did you meet? We met the first week of college when we ended up in the same biology lab group. We quickly realized that we were also in the same required first-year symposium class. At our school there is a legend that you will meet your future spouse in your symposium class… it actually came true for us!
When did you know he was the one? I knew he was the one almost from the beginning. We became friends instantly and started dating a few months later. It was just always so easy and comfortable. I don’t think there was ever a moment when I thought “he’s THE ONE,” there just came a point when it was a given. We were best friends and completely in love, it just made sense that we would end up together.
What is one of your favorite things to do together? We have a great time cooking together (though our kitchen is tiny, so it can be tough!). We also love to play Mario Kart and other video games together. We occasionally play against each other to see who will have to do certain household chores that day.
What is something new you learned about your husband after you were married? He would be perfectly happy eating the exact same 7 meals week after week. He has no need for food variety in his life.
What do you do to stay connected during everyday stresses of life? We text each other throughout the day, just to keep in touch. When we’re both home, we’re nearly always in the same room. We sit together on the couch while we use our laptops or read books. Even when we’re not actually talking to each other, it’s nice to know the other person is there beside us.
What is your best piece of marriage advice? Focus on the positives. This is something I’m really trying to work on. If you decide to focus only on your spouse’s bad habits, you’ll have a negative outlook on the relationship. If you try to remind yourself of all of the good/cute/sweet things he does, you will be so much happier and get along so much better.
What is your favorite quirk about your husband?
He is crazy about ironing. I almost never iron my clothes, but he HAS to iron his work clothes perfectly every morning.
What is something special you do just for your husband?
I pack his lunch for him every day so he has something good to look forward to. I also let him watch a few hours of Mythbusters without complaint nearly every weekend!
Tell us something about yourself.
My life has gone in a completely different direction than I ever expected it to, but most of the time I love it! I’m having a great time learning how to be a wife and I look forward to all the adventures that will come in our marriage.
If you are interested in being a featured newlywed couple leave me a comment, and I will get in touch with you.

A while back, we talked briefly about the possibility of you interviewing me for the Newlywed posts! I’d love to still do that if you are looking for people.
