One of my favorite things about “interviewing” the Newlywed couples is that I take the extra time to really research their blogs. I search far back, check out links and really try to get the feel of the blogs and the couples that are being featured. And let me just tell you, its fun! I mean how often do you honestly check out all that’s on a persons blog? Or if you recently found a blog do you go to the archives searching around viewing. It’s great. One neat thing I learned about Jenny & Morgan at Irish By Marriage is that they love to travel and not only that, they actually DO travel (unlike us who love to travel, but don’t humpft). Any-who, another great post I would have missed would have been The Great Pepper Incident that takes place at no other than the great Tex-Mex restaurant Pappasito’s. Ok after this long (but fun for me) introduction I am happy to proceed on with the interview of such a fun couple!
Name yours and your husbands (that you won’t mind me posting on the blog): Jenny and Morgan (AKA the Irishman)
Wedding date: July 16, 2005
Blog: Irish by Marriage
How did you meet?
The Irishman and I met at summer camp. More specifically, we were working at the same camp. After a couple of summers we decided to “give things a go” as he put it at the time. At the end of the summer he went back to Ireland. We did the long distance thing across the pond for a while. (Ever seen You’ve Got Mail? We were a bit like that.) After a few years he moved to Florida and we were married a year later.
When did you know he was the one?
When I was in grad school I flew to Ireland for a week to stay with the Irishman and his parents. It was his 25th birthday and I spent weeks getting together 25 small gifts for him. I hadn’t seen him for months, but we had a wonderful week and I loved getting to see where he was from. I completely fell in love with him and his family.
What is one of your favorite things to do together?
We love to travel! One of the early birthday gifts I gave the Irishman was a personalized map for marking the places we’ve traveled to together. So far we’ve been to Ireland, London, Paris, Australia, and several Caribbean islands. We keep updating our dream destinations.
What is something new you learned about your spouse after you were married?
As a child, my husband was obsessed with the Muppet’s. At one point he ripped a piece of Muppet’s wall paper off a neighbor’s wall. (This new found knowledge came in handy the year the Muppet Show came out on DVD!)
What do you do to stay connected during everyday stresses of life?
We carpool to and from work. Initially it was out of necessity…we only had one car. Now even with a second car we ride to and from work together. We have come to enjoy the conversation time each morning and afternoon. It is a simple thing, but it makes a big difference!
What is your best piece of marriage advice?
Make time to talk to each other every day!
What is your favorite quirk about your husband?
I do have a thing for a guy with an accent. In all seriousness, people are drawn to Morgan. He has an Irish charm that is hard to resist!
What is something special you do just for your husband?
I asked my husband about this one and he came up with back scratches and Liverpool time. He is a fanatical Liverpool Football Club fan. He even wore a jersey under his tux when we got married. He loves watching soccer games on a lazy Saturday morning.
Tell us something about yourself.
We are expecting our first child in early November and are extremely excited about starting the next chapter of our life together!
Hope you join us for next weeks rendition of Meet the Newlyweds. If you interested in being a featured couple or know of a newlywed blogging couple, please leave me a comment.
how exciting for them to have an addition on the way 🙂
What a cute couple they are and you’re right, it looks like they really enjoy traveling too. So jealous about their Puerto Rico cruise! 🙂
love that they carpool together and talk in the car. sweet couple!! 🙂
They seem like the sweetest couple! I love that they carpool together!! I was dying over the Muppet story of her hubby tearing the wallpaper off a neighbor’s wall. That’s dedication!
