Wedding date: May 23, 2009
Blog (s): The Perfect Catch
How did you meet? We met at the Houston Rodeo Cook-Off. Jason was at the annual cook-off event at a tent with all of his friends and I was at a different tent with my friends and old work colleagues. Jason and I literally saw each other from across the room, we smiled at each other and then he walked up to me and introduced himself…very bold! We immediately hit it off and exchanged phone numbers. We set up a date the next day!
When did you know he was the one? After our first date
What is one of your favorite things to do together? We love to pick a spot of Houston and go explore. I have lived in Houston most of my life and Jason has lived here for years, but there are still so many things that we haven’t seen. We will go walk around a new shopping center, find a new antique store, take our do the dog park, try new restaurants, or look at real estate.
What is something new you learned about your husband after you were married? Jason and I did a great job of getting to know each other before we were married by dating for 2 years. We also made sure we knew everything about each other before the big day by attending 2 pre-marital seminars. One was a retreat weekend at our church and the other was a counseling session with Jason’s grandfather who married us. We put each other through the ringer to make sure we were ready! It worked because so far, no surprises!
What do you do to stay connected during everyday stresses of life? We talk during the day, have date nights, and always make time to talk about our days every day, even when we are exhausted. We have more time together on the weekends so we try and spend as time together then to regroup.
What is your best piece of marriage advice? So far, this best piece of advice I have is to make time to laugh and be silly! It is so easy to get stressed and busy in our daily routines that you don’t make enough time to appreciate your time together.
What is your favorite quirk about your husband? I love the way Jason talks to our dog, Tucker. He talks to him as if he was our baby and even speaks for him as if Tucker was a person….accent and all! You can tell that he loves animals as much as I do and will be a great dad one day.
What is something special you do just for your husband? Lord knows I am not the best cook, but I try! I always do our grocery shopping and try to buy him things that he would like to eat and is east to make when I am working late or in class (I have graduate school on nights and some weekends). The irony is that he is the better cook, but I feel god knowing that I tried to help!
Tell us something about yourself. I literally (last night) just finished my MBA. I work full-time at Houston Baptist University as the Campus Visit and Special Events Coordinator/Admissions Counselor. Jason and I have the cutest Chihuahua in the world named Tucker. He is 7 years old and I have had him since college. I love to read, blog, watch movies and I LOVE music and concerts…especially rock. My favorite thing to do is grab a Starbucks and run around the city with Jason.
If you are interested in being a Meet the Newlyweds featured couple, please leave a comment and/or send me a message and I will get in touch with you.
Congrats on finishing your MBA! Very cool. Off to check out your blog.
My hubby has a special voice that he uses when pretending what our dog is saying, too. It’s funny! Congrats on finishing you MBA.
Where do you find all these pretty people?
Ok. So…I loved the answer about knowing they were meant for each other after the first date. Me too. That goofy feeling. Makes me smile just thinking about it.
