Fun, easy activities to keep the boys entertained are something I am always looking for, so, when Mindee started this Pinterest Party I just knew it was my chance to search in my Fun ideas for the Kids pinterest board, and I pulled out this gem.
I am joining Mindee from Our Front Door and she is hosting a Pinterest party every Tuesday and Thursday in May. Looking for the perfect opportunity to share a Pinterest find? Now is your time. Go check out what others have made too.
Homemade Sidewalk chalk paint! 3 ingredients, about 2 seconds to put it together and the sidewalk is our canvas.
We used plastic cups and a muffin tin to hold the cups, it happened to be a very windy day when we painted, so this helped keep them upright.
To each cup simply add in 2 tablespoons cornstarch, several drops of food dye (6-8 is recommended)
And 4 tablespoons of water. Stir well
See all the beautiful colors we made.
Then get down and start painting.
It dries quickly and is so much fun. I just may have enjoyed it as much as the boys.
The boys loved it.
It easily kept their attention for 1 hour, or until we ran out of paint and had to mix up another batch.
I got into it a little too!
Overall, I will say, this is an excellent find. We will be doing this again very soon!
We haven’t gotten a substantial rain since painting and it’s still there, flaking a little bit. But could easily be washed off with a water hose if need be.
Homemade Sidewalk Chalk Paint
recipe from Hammer and Thread
2 tablespoons cornstarch
4 T water
6-8 drops food coloring (the more the darker the paint)
Mix together and paint away. Easily cleaned off hands and clothes as well.
I pinned this. I loved the idea of using muffin tins to keep the cups from tipping over.
This looks super easy and fun!
I will have to give it a try.
How fun and easy! Thanks for trying it out for us! Your boys are super cute, too. 🙂
