It’s that time of year again. I can feel the excitement in the air, it’s the first day of cutting rice. Dad is in the combine and my brother Robert is driving the auger cart.
The boys are about to jump out of the window they are so excited to ride.
Dad picks up the boys and off they go.
Meanwhile we are left in the cold A/C of my Tahoe, and I am snapping pictures here and there.
Not that it’s hot out there, you know only 106, YIKES!
I love taking pictures in this field, because the trees in the background are very pretty.
Those pesky white birds are always to follow.
It’s Dad’s first year to farm without Pop-po’s advice, help and support.
I really missed seeing him in the combine.
Looks like Uncle Robert grabbed the boys to ride with him.
Dad unloading into the auger cart.
The auger cart then unloads on the trucks, and they will take the rice to the rice dryer to be processed.
For a dry year, Dad’s rice still looks beautiful.
Looks like the boys are coming back.
Hi!
My brother cracks me up. Who farms in shorts, no shoes and has his dog right next to him?
Farmer’s, got to love em!
Jenna – these picturs are so cute!! Your boys are growing so fast too! Looks like they are having a blast out on the combine and auger cart with your dad and Robert. I know the feeling. Levi gets so overly excited when we go see Lowell and Brian on the cotton pickers. Little boys love their big toys 😉
Awesome! ANd I cannot believe how big the boys are getting! I remember this rice post from last year, and I’m totally NOT clicking the link for Pop-po because i know I will cry. :o(
that should have been a 🙁 face
@Denise Anderson, Thanks Denise, I know they are growing much to my displeasure, lol.
@sheila, Yes, I feel the same way.
What a gorgeous series of photos. I love how you captured this time. And those last few pictures are particularly sweet.
