Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. You know the time you were so good at the 4th of July celebration that you hardly touched anything sweet. Then you leave feeling so hungry for something sweet you absolutely have to make something, like a refrigerator pie. (or you probably don’t but I will pretend everyone suffers from this) But then you realize you don’t have the normal fridge pie making ingredients, so you search in the cupboards and come up with this surprisingly delicious pie. This was me Saturday evening, making this pie, searching, huffing and puffing around the kitchen, and pleasantly surprised how good it turned out. DT kept saying over and over, you make this? You came up with this all on your own? I just love how confident he is with my recipe creating skillz! But I must admit I was pretty surprised at how good this turned out, I absolutely love the crust, way better than graham cracker crust!! Way better.
Ingredients: 20 vanilla cookies, 4 T butter, 1 can cherry pie filling (or any pie filling would be great), 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 1 T lime Juice, 1 9 inch pie plate
Put cookies in a food processor and grind until finely crushed ( or crush old fashion way in a plastic baggie and a mallet)
Melt butter
and pour both cookie crumbs and melted butter into pie plate
Mix well and the press down to form crust
Then bake @ 350 for 5-7 minutes
Once the crust if finished remove to cool and start on the filling
add 1 can of sweetened condensed Milk
half the can of cherry filling
and 1 T lime juice
Mix well
Then pour on cooled pie crust and smooth
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, then slice.
Enjoy with a little extra pie filling and cool whip!
Might not be the prettiest pie, but sure did taste great!

MMMmmm that looks fantastic!
Oh Wow!!! Your cherry pie looks great.
This looks delish!!! I’ll have to give it a try!
Blessings!
I am impressed with your imaginative recipe.
Looks great!
Looks yummy!
Looks rich and sweet and pretty good, even though I am not a cherry person.
I love that you were so confident in the results that you took pictures along the way – and you were right!
That is easy!
Looks great and refreshing for summer! Thanks for sharing your recipe and joining us for the TMTT anniversary today.
I love idiot proof recipes! Will def have to try this this week. Last week, I picked cherries, pitted the suckers (juice everywhere I might add too..up the walls etc) but man it sure was a tasty pie. Only got one piece of it. Hubby and the daughter ate the rest on me, the pigs…LOL
That sounds so delicious and refreshing! Love the idea of using the cookies in the crust, I’ll have to try that. I bet it would be yummy with lots of different pie recipes!
Oh yeah! I’m gonna try this one. Ever since you made that dewberry cobbler I have been dying to make it, but I can’t find dewberries. I hear they are out of season now. 🙁 So I guess this cherry pie will have to do. I might try it with strawberries instead.
Hopped in from the blog hop. Glad I did. I’m gonna have to give this recipe a whirl when my wonderful hubby comes home as I know he would enjoy it right along w/ me!
We love recipes with sweetened condensed milk!
Imaginative recipe! I bet it tastes delish!
OMG, you had me at “20 vanilla cookies”!!! That looks SO yummy!
How is it that you don’t have your own show on the Food Network? Seriously….your recipes are so creative. I’d much rather watch you than Rachael Ray anyday!
That looks delicious!
Wow, that looks amazingly good! And yes, I have so been in that place of not having indulged and then needing a little something sweet. I probably would have just gone to bed with an aching sweet tooth though – i am just not that creative.
Taste trumps appearance every time, in my opinion (though I don’t know if Martha Stewart would agree).
I think I need a food processor. And maybe a big stand mixer, too.
Please do something in a rice cooker soon, because I have one of those!
Great recipe and easy to make. This is a must try recipe for this weekend. Thanks!!! Geri
I love inventive cooking, and this does look good. Thanks for the tip about the crust out of cookies, too! Yep, I bet that would be way better! YUM!
Happy Foodie Friday…

I found you via Ann’s Food on Friday.
Personally, I couldn’t live without my food processor or my mini-food chopper. They make life in the kitchen so easy. I love simple & delicious dishes, too.
Sounds and looks yummy! I love things made with sweetened condensed milk, and I love that you used cookies for the crust!
What a beautiful pie. I will make this for the Holidays. Thanks, Doylene
