DT was called to duty of loving son last weekend, when a cow of his dad’s had escaped from his pasture into a neighboring pasture and his Dad needed help getting her back in. DT wasn’t very excited about this endeavor. I mean have you ever tried to “lead” a cow anywhere? Its not the easiest task in the world. Mind you these are not tame pet cows, just good ole regular pasture cows.
But being a good son, he was up for it. So DT, the boys and I all loaded up and made the 1 hour trip to his parents house, where indeed the cow was in the neighbors pasture.
So the boys and I stayed back watching the goats, geese, and chickens.
When suddenly from a distance we see DT and the cow. I was impressed and thought surely he had roped the cow and she was just following along, because she had to.
But when I looked closer, she was just following him
No rope, just a willing participant, oh and he had feed, that always helps. I guess.
She willing followed him into the pasture and gobbled up her feed, happy as a clam. I asked DT what did you do? Do you have crazy cow whispering powers or what?
He said she seemed happy to see him, it turns out that pasture had lots of grass but no water, so she was willing to follow him along to safety. Maybe cows are smarter than we think.
I was pretty proud of my “Cow” boy Trucker!

This time last year February 2009 posts:
Bathroom Remodel week 6 and Happiest dogs on the block
That is adorable, but everything you post is. 🙂
This is the first time that I’ve been able to get onto your site since I mentioned it before. (I did get on one other time, added my link to your WW linky, and then got locked out. How bizarre is that?)
I don’t know what the problem was, but it seems to be fixed.
It’s so nice when they come willingly.
Oh my gosh that is the funniest thing! I read it twice I was so amazed. Incredible! And btw, that is ONE BIG COW!
Moo Mooooooooo!! :)) Great post!
I have a guy on speed dial that everyone in town knows to call whenever there are cows in the road. It happens more than you would think. Small town life is just great sometimes LOL
What a great guy!!
@Tara @ Feels Like Home, Hmm, I still can’t figure that out either, but glad your back!
@sheila, Yes she is big and not full grown yet.
@Cassie, How funny, yes small towns have lots of cows, lol!
That is terribly cute! I would agree that animals in general are smarter than we give them credit for 🙂
Happy WW!
Wow, that is a pretty cool story. What a neat cow.
