As I am taking pictures from the balcony in our hotel room, I notice a wooden boat in the marina, it immediately sparks my interest
As I zoom in closer, I am thinking wow we need to go check this out. So we decided to grab the stroller and go for a walk on the board walk
We found several interesting murals
and look a BROWN pigeon ( I know it doesn’t take much to excite me) I don’t get out much, sad thing is there are tons of random pictures like these, not quite sure what I was thinking when I was taking them, it kind of reminds me of when DT and I went to Lubbock
I grabbed a snap shot of my very photogenic men
After a stop off at the snow cone stand we see a memorial for Selena if your not familiar with her she was a huge Mexican American pop star here in Texas, who was sadly murdered when she was just 23 years old. You might have seen the movie Selena. She was huge in Texas in the 90’s!
Then we spotted The wooden ship, turns out its a exact replica made in Spain of the Nina from the Christopher Columbus expedition. Though sadly it has been put up for display, and doesn’t look to be taken care of very well.
That and it’s tiny, I can’t imagine sailing the ocean on it
I am not sure how big the other 2 ships were; but those must have been some brave souls to travel on this tiny ship.
That concludes our walk on the Corpus Christi Bay Marina, aren’t you glad you read the whole thing, and learned so much!!
coming up a Trip to the Aquarium
What a beautiful clear blue day! By the way, we’re headed to Lubbock in two weeks 🙂 Hopefully we’ll get some R&R while there.
Goodness, what gorgeous photos!! Id love to sit on that dock with some coffee and a book, hang out and read. Thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful place! And I love the random shots! A brown pigeon is unusual. Random shots are the real fabric of life. The heartbeat so to speak of the area.
Great pictures! Can not imagine goping to sea on that!
Beautiful photos! I would be scared to ride on the rough seas in a boat like that!
I’m so glad you posted this!! My husband and I have been thinking of taking a trip to Corpus at some point, and it’s neat to see all the things to do.
Seriously? That’s how big the Nina was? Oh my goodness, how did they not barf all the way across the ocean?
I know those places! That’s my hometown. 🙂 Beautiful photos!
Just wanted to let you know I added a new recipe we tried the other night! Looks like you guys had a good time on your trip!
I am visiting from Julia’s Hooked on Party. Thanks for sharing! Very nice pics!
Oh we have been talking about going to Corpus for a family vacation. I cannot believe how beautiful it looks through your camera lens! I wish you the best vacation ever!
Wow, I love this ship! How neat of you to have spotted in from the room and then make an adventure to get there. I never knew Selena had a memorial either. I love that movie. 🙂
Great picture of the ship. thankyou for sharing your pictures with us, the two kiddies are cute
Gorgeous pics!! I bet you all got stopped a lot on the street with people looking at your boys and asking “are they twins?” 🙂
Looks like you all had so much fun! I remember seeing the movie Selena…so sad what happened to her.
Wow what a great place to be…so pretty. That boat is beautiful, it just needs some TLC. Yes I can’t imagne sailing the ocean in it though. Stopping in from Carrie’s FFFF! Happy Friday!
Cool! It’s almost like being there…almost. Looks like your family is having a grand time – thanks for inviting us!
Great pics! I wonder if this is the same Nina ship that came to the Cleveland Port during the Tall Ships Festival/exhibit thing last summer. That was sooo cool.
What a fun trip !
things like that intrigue me too! i love it! don’t think i’d sail the world on a ship that small either. i lovvve selena, so sad.
It is sad that it is not well taken care of. How cool though to be able to check it out. I agree they must have been some brave souls!
I was showing Uncle B your vacation pictures and I remembered that when AB was a baby we went to Corpus. We toured the Lexington and the replicas of all three ships where in the marine at that time. I took pictures and they’re around the house somewhere, I’ll see if I can find them.
Those sure are photogenic fellas you’ve got there! 🙂 I never get tired of seeing their pictures.
That boat is so interesting! It would be neat to see the other two as well.
