I am very excited about what the year 2010 has to hold for us and I can’t wait to get started on some of my goals.
Well really just one in particular. Which also happens to probably be the most common New Years resolution.
Did you guess it? Yes, to lose weight, get in shape and get healthy.
I am going on a pretty radical diet inspired by Mindee at Our Front Door
She lost a good amount of weight by going off sugar and gluten (as in flour, bread, etc) I’d like to drop some weight and then maintain it with a healthy “normal” diet. Though I’d also like to kick my sugar addiction. I tend to love all things sweet, and crave them several times a day. DT is also going to do the diet with me. I will post recipes and tips as I go along.
I am going to try lots of recipes and tips by Amy from Sugar and Gluten Free. She has eaten this way for years, and has tons and tons of recipes and tips, to make it all seem easy.
In my younger days I once gave up sweets and didn’t eat them for a long time, I also weighed about 120 lbs. Coincidence? I think not.
So my weight loss goals in bullet points are:
1. No Sugar or gluten for at least 1 month (or longer if I can do it)
2. Exercise 3 days a week (either the 30 day shred or running)
*ps. don’t worry my babies will still be eating a normal diet.
Here are a couple family goals:
1. Declutter!! Have a huge garage sale full of items we’ve been putting away to sale for over 2 years. Of the items we don’t sale, give away to good will. Make all of our spaces in our home useful and not just cluttered with stuff.
2. Decorate. The house is in major need or decorations and possibly new furniture.
3. Reach out and reconnect with old friends and family. It’s so easy to get caught up in our daily lives and not connect with friends who were once a huge part of my life.
4. Get creative in life and on the blog! Have some fun new themes or items on my blog.
I hope you all have a fabulous New Year and obtain every goal you set your mind to.

What are your goals for 2010?
Just added a fan page on facebook. Come be my friend!
Not surprisingly, I’m trying to lose weight too. I will definitely look at the sites you mentioned, and I can’t wait to see any new healthy recipes you find!
While I live a sugar free/gluton free life (I am a low carber), my family does not follow the same steps. THIS year however, we are basically going meat and veggies for dinners (taking out all rice/potatoes/pasta/bread) for the husband and kids. It won’t hurt them to NOT have those things on a regular basis, and may open their tastebuds to enjoy a few more veggies. Now, because I am southern momma I love cooking and offering cookies and such, and they are kids. BUT… as far as meals go ~ we are going back to basics. I commend you on taking a healthy attitude towards your nutritional needs!
@Sheila, Thats a great idea. I use to base my meals on 2 veggies and a meat, but until recently I had stopped doing that, but I am focusing on cooking healthier for the whole family. I commend you.
Those are GREAT goals!! I hope that you are successful:-)
Wow, I just found your blog. I’m a new mom. My son was born Nov 2008, one year behind your little guys. I love your goals. Sounds like some of mine. I need to lose a bit of weight and eat healthier. I hope you have some great tips for us. Blessings, Shonda
While I love the idea of losing weight, I don’t think I could give up sugar or bread. But then again, that’s probably why I could stand to lose a few pounds. I am gonna try to eat healthier and mainly no snacking after 7:00 pm…that’s my biggest downfall right there!
I’ve been thinking about getting the 30-Day Shred…did you like it? Is it more for experienced exercisers? I just got Jillian Michaels’ new 2010 Wii workout but I haven’t done it just yet…I’m kinda dreading it but I know I need to do it!
Okay, I’m back with you starting bright and early Monday morning. I gave myself permission to take the holidays off and it’s been ugly. Really ugly. So Monday! Let’s all be miserable together!
Hi! I just found your blog and I am so glad! I want to cut out sugar too so I’ll be reading your tips and following your success for inspiration. I just started reading and interesting book you might be interested in: “Suicide by Sugar: A Startling Look at Our #1 National Addiction” by Nancy Appleton, Phd. Good luck with de-sugaring and Happy New Year!
I hear you on the decluttering! And I need to adopt your “reconnect” goal, also.
What great goals. I should look at the sugar and gluten free thing. I have read that increasing your greens helps cut down on the sugar cravings. Hmm…
Thanks for the mention! It will work wonders for you – one day I just looked up and noticed that the weight had dropped off.
We’re also decorating here…in fact I’m off to the antique mall now. Looking for some things that I’ll love for a long time instead of going for a quick fix.
I have two blogs and this one is gluten free, although not sugar free. If I can help in any way, yell. Amy is great and she will help you. Just ask her. If you need other GF blogs, I can point you in the right direction.
I came here to tell you that I made the five minute chocolate mug cake and I am posting the results on my other blog. I could not find it here to respond to it but it turned out great. My class does not believe I could bake a cake in a mug. Thanks for sharing it.
